Pandem-A-Way Tincture- 2oz. This tincture and contains herbs that have been researched and may be effective against respiratory viruses and protozoan parasites. While I make no claims toward any specific health condition it could be of use for, I would like to present information on each ingredient used, via research studies, so you can make an informed choice for your own health. Let's begin......... Pandem-A-Way- This tincture contains 3 herbs that are historically known mostly for malaria, fighting the flu, lowering fevers, and in the eradication of parasites. Newer studies suggest their promise in possibly fighting off viruses. Cinchona bark has a long history of use as an antimalarial in many countries around the world with great success. The bark contains quinine, which was a miracle treatment for malaria in 1635. Fast forward to 1934- when Chloroquine (CQ) was synthesized and in 1955- when Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) was synthesized. CQ remains the antimalarial of choice. In 2005, a study of SARS-CoV infected primate cells reported a marked antiviral effect of CQ against the virus. HCQ and CQ appear to have immunomodulatory effects that could suppress the uncontrolled immune response to SARS-CoV2 thanks to its antiviral and immunomodulatory effects. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7756155) Furthermore, studies show that CQ can enhance the endosomal PH needed by the SARS-CoV-2 virus to fuse with the hosts cell membrane. This mechanism results in the inhibition of viral infection in vitro. When quinine effectively intensifies the production of the well-known cytokine IFN-a, it functions as an immuno-stimulator to inhibit viruses. Otherwise, quinine inhibits the release of TNF-a and has an immunosuppressant effect. These two different activities may have a beneficial effect on people who are infected with COVID-19. However, routine consumption of this herbal medicine by healthy people as a preventative against COVID-19 is not recommended, due to the possibility of harmful side effects. (https://www.hindawi.com/journals/ecam/2020/2560645/) *Side effects of taking large amounts of cinchona bark include- ringing in the ears, headache, nausea, diarrhea, vision changes, bleeding disorders, hives, and fever***Keep in mind that in this formula, cinchona bark is 1/3 part of the whole, so not in high dose form. However, do heed the above cautions** Boneset is a member of the compositae family. It has been used in the treatment for influenza for many years. According to famed herbalist, Stephen Harrod Buhner, in his book Herbal Antivirals,Boneset is a good choice for fighting most any viral infection that have the hot, cold, hot, cold fever. It is also effective as an antimalarial, helps in lowering fevers, is antiviral, an immunostimulant, anti-inflammatory, and helps with the aches and pains associated with viral infections. Wormwood is a member of the Asteraceae family and is long prized for its antiparasitic properties in both humans and animals. This bitter plant is used primarily as a digestive remedy, but it also shows anti-inflammatory actions, liver protectant, and has an immunomodulatory effect. Newer studies suggest its effectiveness against intercellular viruses. • Other Supplements to Consider

Weeds N Roots Herbals Delicious Elderberry Syrup - Elderberries are long prized for their immune boosting and in helping to fight colds, flu, and other respiratory viruses. Studies have shown elderberry extracts to inhibit viral replication, which is why it may extend to other viral infections. Elderberries contain many highly nutritious vitamins and minerals that may support the body during infections and they may also help combat inflammation, due to their powerful antioxidant properties. Studies have also shown elderberry to be effective against other coronaviruses without overstimulating the immune system. ( I suggest elderberry to be used as a preventative measure)  (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33827575/) (https:/www.naturalmedicines.therapeuticresearch.com/news/news-items/2020/april/clear-up-confusion-about-elderberry-in-covid-19-patients.aspx)

Weeds N Roots Herbals Fire Cider is a stimulating honey and vinegar tonic that is long prized by herbalists for the properties it has to offer. This spicy tonic is jam packed with antibacterial, antiviral, antimicrobial, and antifungal goodness. Many testify of its great immune support and prevention for colds and flu. It also helps to induce sweating, which may help move out toxins from the body more quickly. It has also been observed to be an excellent moving expectorant that may help break up congestion and keep airways clear. The garlic and cayenne in the tonic, may help to keep the blood thinner, which might discourage blood clots from forming.

Herbalicious Cough Syrup is a blend of mucilaginous and expectorant herbs that may help to thin out stuck mucous that are associated with non-productive coughs. This action in turn, may help to quiet the cough and provide needed rest, while helping to erradicate the cough.

Vitamin C is a well known antiviral and it exerts its properties by way of supporting lymphocytes (cells that direct and regulate immune response-fighters), modulates cytokines, reduces inflammation, and it combines harmoniously with quercetin, increasing its efficacy. It has also been shown to reduce the severity of colds and viruses in several studies. In an old study, a clinical trial identified the combination of flavonoids(Quercetin) and Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) as beneficial for respiratory infections. (www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fimmu.2020.01451/full#B12) Suggested preventative dose- Adults-500mg daily. Suggested dose for use in adult Active Needs- 3000mg-5000mg in divided doses daily or to bowel tolerance.

Vitamin D3.... despite its name, is actually a hormone that plays an important role in the body's immune function. In fact, Calcitriol acts as a powerful modulator of the immune system, given that Vitamin D has receptors in all immune cells. The immunomodulating function of Vitamin D is considered complex during viral infections and appears to vary according to nature of the pathogen and type of immune function responsible for the resolution of the disease. Studies have shown that supplementation of Vitamin D3 was associated with a lower risk of developing acute respiratory infections and that the positive effect of supplementation was even more pronounced in individuals with Vitamin D insufficiency at the beginning of intervention. In addition, Vitamin D plays an important role in the formation and maintenance of epithelial and endothelial barriers, including lung tissue. The authors of another study concluded that Vitamin D deficiency plays an independant casual role in COVID-19 severity and that preventative or therapeutic supplementation in populations at risk(elderly and those with underlying diseases) can be useful to prevent poor disease outcomes. (https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fnut.2020.606398/full) Foods high in Vitamin D include; fatty fish, cod liver oil, and egg yolks.

Suggested daily preventative dose for adults- 1000-2000iu. Suggested daily dose for Adult Active Needs- 5000-20,000iu, depending on serum levels. Suggested Daily Sun Exposure for Vitamin D levels- 15-20 minutes during the hours of 10am-3pm. Darker Skinned folks need to add 10-15 minutes more.

Zinc....Studies have shown zinc to be essential in preserving natural tissue barriers, such as respiratory epithelium, preventing pathogen entry, for a balanced function of the immune system, and the redox system. Being deficient in zinc can probablybe added to the factors that predispose individuals to infection and the detrimental progression of viruses, like COVID-19. Due to its direct antiviral properties, it can be assumed that zinc supplementation is beneficial for most of the population, especially those with suboptimal zinc levels. Furthermore, zinc deficiency was related to significantly reduced taste sensitivity and impaired saliva secretion in humans and animals, which might involve zinc's importance for the action of carbonic anhydrase. Results from supplementation studies largely describe improvements in chemosensory functions (taste and smell disorders). Zinc can also modulate the develpoment and activity of T Cells, hence reducing the cytokine storm, characterized by high levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines that lead to systemic immune response impairment, resulting in acute respiratory distress. (http://www.frontiersin.org/articlrs/10.3389/fimmu.2020.01712/full)  Suggested daily dose for prevention for adults- 20mg . Suggested Daily Dose for Adult Active Needs-50mg, twice daily for 7 days. **DO NOT EXCEED 7 DAY HIGH DOSE AS TOO MUCH ZINC CAN DEPLETE COPPER LEVELS**
